How to Print a WhatsApp Chat (with Images)

On Android

1. Open the chat you want to keep (one-to-one or group).
2. Tap ⋮ in the top-right corner, then More → Export chat.
3. Choose Include media to keep photos, or Without media for text only.
4. Save the file to your phone or share it straight to an app.

On iPhone

1. Open the chat and tap the contact or group name at the top.
2. Scroll down and tap Export Chat.
3. Choose Attach Media to keep photos, or Without Media for text only.
4. Save it to Files or share it.

• Page size: A4 (most of the world) or Letter (US, Canada). Legal and Tall are longer pages that fit more messages each — check your printer supports the size first.
• Photo quality: Original, so photos stay sharp on paper. Balanced (300 dpi) also prints well, in a smaller file.
• A date range, if you only want part of the chat — printing costs per page.
• A cover, a dedication and a stats page if it’s a gift.

At home

• Print at 100% or Actual size so pages aren’t shrunk to fit.
• Use double-sided printing for a book feel, and heavier paper if your printer allows it.

At a print shop or photo-book printer

• Take the PDF on a pen drive or send it by email — it prints exactly as it looks on screen.
• Ask for binding: spiral is cheap and lies flat; perfect binding or hardcover looks like a real book.

• Anniversary: the first months of messages, from the first hello.
• Birthday: a year of a friendship, with the photos you sent each other.
• Farewell: a team or class group chat, as a keepsake for everyone.
• Family: a grandparent’s messages and voice notes, kept safe on paper.
